On September 1 the varsity girls’ volleyball team played against the team from Jing An Sports School in the high school gym, conceding to them 0-5.
“Even though we lost the game, you have to acknowledge the fact that the team from the local school had been training for months before, and we only assembled our roster at the end of August,” said senior Sean Ker, the manager of the team.

The team was expected to come back stronger than ever with seven returning seniors, compared to just three last year. “Although the match was a bit discouraging, I think the match was a really good practice round for preparing for China Cup volleyball, which is being hosted here beginning this Friday,” noted junior Jia Ye Tuang, one of two setters. China Cup will feature the Hong Kong International School and the International School of Beijing, both of which have very strong volleyball teams. The results of the China Cup tournament will be covered in the next issue, along with details of Shanghai Cup, which took place here on September 15. |
