On September 1, SAS Puxi’s JV1 and JV2 girls’ volleyball teams travelled to Suzhou Singapore International School to play their first official game of the season.
JV1 won the first set with a 26-24 score but lost the last two sets. JV1’s coach Mr. James Linzel, high school science teacher, reported that the first set was a “come-from-behind win.”
JV2 lost all three sets against SSIS, 13-25, 10-25, and 17-25. The JV1 girl’s volleyball team’s next game was held afterschool, on September 4 in the elementary school gym, against Shanghai Community International School. The JV1 team once again won the first set 25-21 but lost the last two sets 12-25 and 12-15. Mr. Linzel says that the JV1’s motto of the season is to “play the way [they] practiced.” Indeed, SAS Puxi’s JV1 team followed its motto in the first set, but was inconsistent with their last two sets. Both teams played on September 8, against the French International School of Shanghai. JV1 won all three sets, 25-16, 25-11, and 25-14. JV2 also won all three sets, 25-20, 25-11, and 15-9. Both teams will play more games in the coming weeks, as well as in China Cup this coming weekend. Results of their games and China Cup will be in the next issue. |
