The two JV boys’ volleyball teams are getting fired up for China Cup this coming weekend. Both teams will be staying at SAS Puxi to play their games. Those results will be in the next issue.
Daniel Tey, a junior on the JV1 team, commented that his team will definitely have better results than last year, based on the skill level of the team this year. However, he said that team chemistry could use a little improvement, especially in terms of communication on the court. One good thing he appreciates about his team is that no one blames each other for mistakes. When asked about the fundamental skills of the players, Tey had much praise. “We’re good at everything—only our spikes need work.” The JV1 boys played their first game on September 1 against SSIS. Despite a loss of 0-2, Tey remained highly optimistic: “Even though we didn’t win our first game of the season, I am sure that our results will get better soon!”

Alex Bi, a senior on the JV2 team, reported that his team has “plenty of potential, and we have the skill and determination to win most of our games this season!” He also stated that there are many new players to the game, mixed with a few volleyball veterans on the team. The older players are helping the younger ones learn, and team chemistry is great as everyone is working together well. “The younger players learn very quickly, and they will be a great asset during the tournament,” Bi noted. Regarding fundamental skills, Bi praised his team’s ability to spike, but he stated that other aspects need some improvement. On September 1, the JV2 team played their first match against Suzhou Singapore International School. The Puxi boys were defeated with a score of 0-3 but remain perseverant in trying to win the rest of their games. |
