On September 21-23, the girls’ tennis teams traveled to Hong Kong International School to participate in their China Cup tournament against HKIS and the International School of Beijing. The varsity girls’ team took second place in the tournament, losing to HKIS but beating ISB. The overall team score in the tournament was four singles wins, eight singles losses, two doubles wins, and four doubles losses. However, achieving second place did not deter the girls’ spirits. Senior player Julie Sand optimistically commented, “Since we didn’t get first place, this is motivation to get first for APAC.” |
Other players highly enjoyed the social aspect of China Cup. Sophomore player Jenny Chen said, “Getting to know other teams at China Cup, along with playing tennis, was fun too.” Others took it as great team bonding experience. Senior player Natalie Lau said, “Hong Kong was really great because it gave us time to grow as a team.”
The junior varsity girls’ team also brought home second place. The overall team score in the tournament was four singles and doubles wins, eight singles losses, and two doubles losses. The team reflected and offered positive feedback on their performance. Sophomore player Kelley Chen had high praise to offer. “Compared to last year, our JV girls’ team improved by a lot this year. It was a really good experience for all of us, and we also got to bond together as a team.”
